About this policy

FocUS is a study app for timers, planning, shared rooms and optional focus tracking. This policy explains what the app processes when you use it.

Accounts and study activity

Supabase processes your email, authentication credentials and profile information to create and secure your account. FocUS stores profile details, group and room memberships, session activity, focus summaries and shared content so these features work across devices. Other users may see your profile, group activity and shared session information through the app’s group and discovery features.

Camera, screen and focus estimates

Camera access requires browser permission for focus sessions. Camera-based face, presence and phone detection runs on your device. Focus scores are estimates and may be wrong; they are not medical assessments or reliable evidence of attention. Room participants can see your shared focus status. If you enable screen capture, the browser asks you to choose what to share. Camera and screen snapshots can include sensitive surroundings or documents. They are stored locally for session recaps and are uploaded to Supabase Storage when you choose to share a timelapse. Authorized viewers can access shared recaps; they may make their own copies. During scheduled group breaks, FocUS can connect members in a live voice and video call. Call media travels directly between participants where possible; FocUS does not add call audio or video to timelapses. Other participants could still make their own recordings. The connection service may process network information needed to connect peers.

Group time reviews

Group members can mark multiple ranges in a shared timelapse as not studying. The marked ranges, votes and outcomes are visible to group members. If a vote succeeds, the corresponding recorded study time is removed from the member’s credited time and leaderboard. Automated focus estimates are imperfect; review recordings carefully and respectfully.

Google Classroom

Classroom import is optional. The Google connection reads your classes, coursework titles, deadlines, assignment links and submission status. The extension instead reads task headings and assignment links from the Classroom page you explicitly ask it to read. It does not collect grades, comments, rosters, passwords or access tokens. You review titles, subjects, task types and deadlines before importing. The extension holds the reviewed draft in browser session storage; it becomes unavailable after 30 minutes and is cleared when the browser session ends. It does not submit or edit coursework.

When you confirm an import, tasks are saved to your FocUS calendar in Supabase. Personal tasks are private; study sessions planned from them follow your group sharing settings. Delete imported events in the calendar to remove them. The Google connection keeps its access token in page memory, not the FocUS database. You can revoke Google access in your Google account’s third-party connections. Imported data is used for your requested study features, not advertising, sale or training general-purpose AI models. FocUS’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Cookies, browser storage and service providers

Authentication uses cookies to keep you signed in. Browser storage holds preferences, planner data and local recordings. Vercel hosts the site and Supabase provides authentication, database and recording storage. These providers may process IP addresses, request details and security logs to operate their services. Google processes requests when you use Classroom. Processing locations depend on the providers and may be outside your country. FocUS does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Retention and your choices

Local data stays until removed by app controls or clearing this site’s browser storage. Clearing browser storage does not delete cloud records. Shared group timelapses expire after seven days by default; the group owner can choose one, seven, 30 or 90 days. The site stops serving expired recordings at the deadline and removes their cloud files during the daily cleanup. This does not erase copies already saved by members or recordings stored in their own browsers. Study totals and completed review results remain. Other account and study records currently have no automatic expiry. Room chat retains up to the latest 100 messages per room; presence stops appearing after about 30 seconds without a heartbeat, which is not a guarantee that the stored presence row is deleted. You can leave a break call and stop camera or screen access using browser permissions. Contact the operator to request access, correction or deletion of cloud data or your account. Some records may need to remain for security or legal reasons, and provider backups may persist beyond deletion from active systems.

Security and disclosures

FocUS uses HTTPS, authenticated access and database/storage access controls. No system guarantees absolute security. Information may be disclosed where legally required or necessary to address abuse or protect users. Do not share passwords or private recordings through public invite links.

Younger users and updates

FocUS is not intended for children under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use it with a parent or guardian’s permission. Contact the operator if a child has provided personal information. We will update the date on this policy when practices change and provide additional notice or seek consent where required.
